We received a letter from them referencing our property which they said was sold as a short sale. They said any resulting deficiency resulting from the short sale will be waived. Going forward they will not attempt to collect any unpaid debt on our loan - we are not required to send any payments on the unpaid balance.

I am really hoping that everything works out well on the first go round on the HAMPster wheel (I Pray about this daily) as I have informed the bank that I do want to keep my house and pay them, however I got hit hard last year financially. Does anyone have any advice that they can offer that may be able to help my case? I can definitely understand why you would want to fight to keep the home since you have barely been in the home for a year and spent thousands on closing costs and a down payment..

The only way to bring your loan current is to pay the past due in a lump sum payment, get on a repayment plan (which will increase your monthly payments until the past due is satisfied), or complete a loan modification which can help lower your monthly payments while adding the past due to the back of the loan (probably the most favorable option).

Just trying to plan how much time I have to work out a deal with the bank. After my above post I remained in the home until 2 days before the sheriff sale which I did delay for one month.
